Living with chronic hip or knee pain shouldn't be a life sentence just because you don't live next door to a world-class surgical center. Every patient deserves access to the most advanced robotic joint reconstruction technology, regardless of their zip code. Learn more about our specialized Out-of-Town Patient Program to bridge the distance between your home and our Oklahoma City clinic.
Removing the Logistics Barrier to Advanced Hip & Knee Replacement Surgery
When we talk to patients from across the region, their biggest concern is rarely the surgery itself. It’s how they are going to travel for surgery and manage the recovery period. We understand that coordinating flights, hotels, and local transport while dealing with joint pain feels overwhelming. To solve this, we’ve streamlined the entire process, turning a complex medical journey into a structured, manageable experience.
From your initial consultation to your final clearance to head home, we act as your local concierge. We provide a curated list of partner hotels near Quail Springs, such as the Avid Hotel or Residence Inn, which are specifically chosen for their accessibility and comfort for post-operative patients. We even suggest car services that offer more space than a standard taxi, ensuring you have the room you need to keep your joint comfortable on the way to the airport.
Safety First: Our Seven-Day "Stay and Recover" Protocol
One of the most frequent questions we receive is: "When can I fly home?" For your safety, we require out-of-town patients to remain in Oklahoma City for at least one week following knee or hip replacement surgery. This is a critical clinical standard we maintain to ensure your incision is healing perfectly before you board a plane.
Remaining local for those first seven days allows us to monitor you closely during the most vital window of recovery. It also ensures you are mobile enough to navigate an airport safely. By the time you head to the gate, you’ll be more active and significantly less prone to developing blood clots, a risk we take very seriously.
Remote Recovery and Long-Distance Success
Distance shouldn’t mean a disconnect in your care. We utilize modern FaceTime technology and digital communication to stay in constant contact once you return home. We also encourage you to establish a relationship with a local orthopedist who can communicate with us if any minor needs arise.
For long-term follow-ups, we make life easy. While the six-week check-up is our most important milestone for X-rays and strength testing, subsequent annual visits can often be handled remotely. We simply ask that you have an X-ray taken locally and sent to us for review. This hybrid model of care ensures that we are always watching over your new joint, even from hundreds of miles away.
Your Journey to Mobility Starts Here
We don't want travel to be the reason you settle for a life of limited mobility. Whether you are coming from a neighboring state or across the country, our team is ready to welcome you to Oklahoma City.
