Oklahoma Joint Reconstruction Institute

Oklahoma Joint Reconstruction Institute

Oklahoma Joint Reconstruction Institute was founded in August 2014 by Dr. Paul Jacob, a board certified, fellowship trained orthopedic surgeon dedicated to bringing advanced, Mako robotic assisted hip and knee care to Oklahoma City, Norman, and Edmond, OK. Dr. Jacob’s practice is grounded in the same research driven approach that defines the Oklahoma Joint Reconstruction Research Institute, where he and his colleagues contribute to published research and clinical studies advancing implant science and joint replacement outcomes. After relocating to Oklahoma, Dr. Jacob saw a clear need for a true Joint Replacement Center of Excellence, a place where patients throughout the state and surrounding region could access surgeons with specialized training and experience in Mako robotic joint reconstruction. That vision became OJRI.

Dr. Jacob’s path to orthopedic surgery began in physical therapy. He earned a master’s degree in physical therapy from Walsh University and became a board certified orthopedic clinical specialist, later serving as director of physical therapy at Kent State University. He then returned to medical school at Ohio University, completed his orthopedic surgery residency in Columbus, Ohio, and went on to a prestigious fellowship in adult reconstruction at the Cleveland Clinic, consistently ranked among the top orthopedic hospitals in the country.

Today, Dr. Jacob specializes in Mako robotic assisted hip and knee replacement, using real time, patient specific data to plan and execute each procedure with a level of precision traditional surgery cannot match. He is recognized as a pioneer in outpatient joint replacement, helping qualified patients go home the same day as their Mako robotic procedure to recover in the comfort of their own home. In addition to surgical care, Dr. Jacob offers non surgical, regenerative solutions for joint pain, including PRP (platelet rich plasma) injections, for patients seeking relief and improved function without surgery.

After moving to Oklahoma in 2014 Dr. Jacob quickly realized that there was a great need in the state of Oklahoma for a Joint Replacement Center of Excellence. A place Oklahomans could go to find surgeons with additional training and experience in Joint Replacement. He envisioned a place that could serve the entire state of Oklahoma and surrounding states to bring cutting edge techniques and technology to this community. Oklahoma Joint Reconstruction Institute was formed in August of 2014 with Dr. Jacob as the founding member. Since that time Dr. Jacob has brought the latest techniques and technology to the State of Oklahoma. The most important step to ensuring a successful Joint Replacement Center, was the addition of his two Physician Assistants (Kristy Olivo and Randall Pape). He is excited to announce the addition of Mako Robotically assisted surgery to Community Hospital. He plans to continue to bring cutting edge advancements to the region to provide his patients with state of the art care.
